Brennan Executive Director
Prior to joining the Emergency Fund, Nonie Brennan was the Executive
Director of the Volunteer Center in Battle Creek, Michigan. During
her tenure there, Nonie was credited with bringing 211 (a three-digit dialing code to access community resources) to the state.
She served as
President of Volunteer Centers of Michigan and was a founding member
of the ConnectMichigan Alliance. She also served on the Volunteer
Center National Network Council and was appointed by Governor Engler
to the Michigan Community Service Commission.
Since joining the Emergency Fund in 2003, Brennan initiated a merger with My Brother's Keeper and led the organization through a period of significant growth. Brennan worked with staff and volunteers to identify and launch a new identity for the Emergency Fund.
Under her leadership, the Emergency Fund has become the largest provider of homelessness prevention funding in the State of Illinois. Most recently, Brennan has been working closely with the Chaddick Institute of Metropolitan Development at DePaul University on community development planning in post-Katrina New Orleans.
Brennan graduated with a Masters Degree in Public Service from DePaul University and received her undergraduate degree at the University of Western Ontario. She is also certified in Fundraising and Volunteer Management, and is currently
pursuing an Executive Doctor of Management at Weatherhead School of Business – Case Western Reserve University.
