Lynette Barnes, Program Coordinator

Lynette M. Barnes joined The Emergency Fund as Program Coordinator in March 2007. Prior to joining the Emergency Fund, Ms. Barnes worked with economically disadvantaged, unemployed and underemployed clients and students at the Chicago Urban League Employment, Counseling and Training Department for 22 years. Lynette served as a Placement and Retention Specialist, Contract Monitor, Eligibility Specialist , Financial Aid Administrator and Admissions/Counselor Coordinator.

In addition, Lynette served as Fund Manager with the Emergency Fund for 5 years. In 2000, Lynette was instrumental in obtaining and maintaining the Chicago Urban Leagues' first Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) Certified and Accrediting Counsel for Continuing Education & Training (ACCET)Accredited Automated Office Applications Program. She maintained a 90% completion rate and over 400 students graduated and received certificates. Over 80% of the graduates found full time employment within 6 months.

Lynette earned a Bachelor of Science degree, Business & Administration Management from Chicago State University. She has volunteered with the Accrediting Counsel for Continuing Education & Training to review schools applying for accreditation as a Program Curriculum Specialist.
