Associate Board
Thank you to each attendee of the Associate Board’s Wine Tasting event on April 22, 2010 at Kafka Wine Co. There were 8 wines to taste and delicious treats from Pastoral, Chicago Diner, and Windy City Sweets. Attendees won great door prizes, and funds were raised to support the Emergency Fund!

The Associate Board is made up of a network of young Chicago area professionals who lead fundraising events and actively volunteer for the Emergency Fund. Members bring a wide range of professional expertise as well as a commitment to the Emergency Fund’s mission of providing immediate financial assistance to help low-income Chicago area individuals and families through a crisis or transition.
Active Members are expected to participate in regularly scheduled meetings, attend special events, and commit to an annual fundraising goal. Membership is on a volunteer basis and is unpaid. We value diversity and the contribution that each member makes to the group. The Associate Board is self-lead and supported by Emergency Fund staff. Members have the opportunity to take on leadership roles through a two year commitment as an appointment executive team member (president, vice president, and secretary/treasurer) or as a chair of one of four committees (special events, marketing, recruitment, and fundraising/sponsorships)
Active Members of the Associate Board will gain:
- Skills in planning, teambuilding, event logistics
- Contacts with other young Chicago area professionals
- Valuable volunteer experience
- Knowledge of the nonprofit sector
- A deeper understanding of the need in our community and how the Emergency Fund bridges gaps in service
Active Members of the Associate Board members should be:
- Open to working as a team
- Passionate about the Emergency Fund’s mission
- Willing to attend and participate in regular meetings and events
- Prepared to contribute to the suggested donation: “give or get $250”
Supporters are individuals who are interested in the Associate Board, but may not have the time to commit to active membership. Supporters receive special event invitations, welcomed at meetings, and updated on our happenings by receiving regular emails.
